For six years I studied at the School of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In May of 2010, I received a Master of Architecture after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 2008.
The architectural education I have received over the years has been paramount in my development, not only as a designer, but also as a person. Due to my studies, my eyes have been transformed to recognize the poetic, aesthetic, and societal obligations to which design should aspire.
As I comprehend it, Architecture is form with function. Great design can only exist at the intersection of these two ideals. It is for this reason that in each design I seek to derive poetic and aesthetic sensibilities from tangible and logical processes. My design decisions are based firmly in methodical and iterative reasoning that I believe assign greater meaning to my work.
It is my opinion that beauty is achieved through the elimination of the superfluous, and the empowerment of the rationale.
In addition to architectural design, I find great interest in the fields of art, music, and graphic design. I am an avid drawer, painter, musician, and collage maker. I have a great passion for traveling as well as humanitarian design efforts, both of which have given me greater insight into one’s place within the world.
